Nike | "Yes, Mars"

"Yo, Mars Blackmon here," says Spike Lee, recreating his alter ego "from back in the day." It seems Mars can't quite believe his main man, Michael Jordan, is retiring -- so he calls MJ on a cell phone. The conversation is one-sided (all Blackmon) and absolutely hilarious. Brilliantly edited, the spot also provides a quick tour of Lee's home turf, Brooklyn. Yes, that's Nathan's in Coney Island, Junior's restaurant on Flatbush Ave., the Brooklyn Heights promenade, a brownstone in Fort Greene and a snow-covered Brooklyn Bridge. "Goodbye and thanks, Michael," reads the final graphic. Best Spots is glad Nike chose not to create a maudlin, overproduced, overpriced retrospective to honor Jordan. It's a nice sendoff to the best to ever play the game of basketball (but not baseball, as Mars aptly puts it). Now if only Michael could find a job...
