Wal-Mart | "Stay at Home Mom"
April 14, 2003
Bernstein-Rein/Kansas City, MO
This intelligent commercial targets the rarest of advertising species: the stay-at-home mom. Indeed, most companies won't go near the subject, fearing criticism from the PC police. Not Wal-Mart, which introduces the world to Toni, a feisty, perky, independent woman who runs a household of "five humans, two dogs, two guinea pigs and one income." A self-proclaimed "bargain looker-outer," she saves money at the ubiquitous department store. Toni is believable and a breath of fresh air. By the way, a sister spot targets working mothers.
