Kia Sedona | "Pinata"
April 14, 2003
davidandgoliath/Los Angeles
A common prop in advertising through the eons, the piñata makes a triumphant return in this funny spot. When birthday girl Kelly is blindfolded and given a plastic bat to break open the candy-filled beast, everyone knows the kid is going to whomp on her friends. But not everyone would expect the assault and battery to sell an SUV. Claiming the Sedona offers the "government's highest safety rating," the ad sends a smart message to parents. Although they can't protect their kids every minute of the day, at least they can keep them safe on the road.
